Darby Schnoebelen

Program Manager
She/Her/Hers

Darby’s love for the arts started at the age of five, when she was cast as the lead of a musical, and her passion has only grown over the years. She was born and raised in San Diego County, only leaving to fulfill her dream of moving to New York City and studying Theatre. By the end of her undergrad career, she had three majors: Theatre (Performance and Digital Media), Business (Media and Arts Management), and Communications (Cinema Television and Emerging Media) from Marymount Manhattan College.

Her passion for storytelling then took her to The Disneyland Resort®, where she spent the next three years. In her time there she also received her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University.

Darby joined the Youth Arts Academy and Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito Team in October 2022, and she is thrilled to share her love of the arts and storytelling to the youth served by the YAA Program.

Toni Lizcano was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. At the age of 14 she picked up her sister’s bass guitar and started plucking along to whatever song she could figure out on her own. It wasn’t long before she found herself playing bass in a heavy metal band with her high school friends and producing her own electronic music, performing it at local events.

At the age of 19, she moved to the United States, where she eventually attended the University of Texas at El Paso and completed her B.A. in Music Education. During her time there, she became involved in every ensemble that she could find time for, including the Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band, Wind Symphony, Middle Eastern Music Ensemble, Steel Pan Ensemble, as well as the UTEP Dinner Theater. During this time, she worked as a freelance jazz musician and started teaching private lessons, discovering her passion for teaching and helping students of all ages discover the joy that is creating and performing music.

Upon graduating, she taught Middle School Orchestra and Piano in El Paso for five years while continuing to perform bass and keyboards in numerous jazz and rock bands, and producing and DJing her own electronic music at local events. She also worked in the studio as both a session musician and a producer with local and international artists on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.

She now finds herself in the California Coast and is thrilled for the opportunity to share her passion for performing and creating music with the wonderful community here at Youth Arts Academy.
